He had pointy teeth and furry skin.

"Boo!" he roared. Other monsters joined from the trees, all shouting "Boo!" at the same time. They were having so much laughter scaring each other! One little monster was afraid. It was a tall ghost with big eyes and a grinning face. "Hello," it said. "My name is Bob, and I'm your new friend!"

I was so surprised that I could barely move. But then, I started to giggle because his tone was so kind.

The Invisible Friend Who Wasn't So Scary

When I first/began/started to see him, I was terrified. He was always there, watching/looking/peeking from the corner of my eye, but he never showed/appeared/came close. My parents thought I was imagining/making it up, but I knew better. This wasn't a game.

This invisible friend, who I named Sparky, became my best pal. He would whisper jokes/make funny noises/tell silly stories in my ear and he was always there to give me a boost. Now, looking back, I think he was just a lonely little ghost/spirit/phantom who wanted a friend too.
